Goodbye Liz Truss. We hardly knew ye.
Yesterday, Liz Truss announced she would resign as Prime Minister of the U.K. after just 44 days in office. That’s a new one for the record books in the U.K.
In her brief span in office, Truss had managed to create a financial crisis in the sovereign debt market, force a bailout by the Bank of England, trigger alarm bells about the safety of pension plans in the U.K., and fire her Finance Minister. All of these events are interconnected. Here’s the short version:

In another foretaste of potential future ‘carbon allowance’ limits, a major bank in Australia has introduced a new feature that links purchases to a customer’s carbon footprint and warns them when they are going over the average.
Australia’s Commonwealth Bank (CBA) has partnered with Cogo, a “carbon management solutions” company, to launch the new feature, which is part of CBA’s online banking platform.

Europe is destined for blackouts this winter, and major media networks are already preparing emergency scripts in an attempt to keep the population calm and under control during uncertain times. Right now, the government’s plan is to keep Europeans from panicking. A spokesperson for the BBC said, “The government is confident that [blackouts] are not a scenario we will face this winter.” Ministers have been going around to the public, reassuring businesses and homeowners that blackouts are unlikely.

Gold eased further this week and silver marked time, as US Treasury yields moved higher. In European trade this morning, gold was $1625, down $19 from last Friday’s close, and silver was $18.34, up 11 cents. Comex volumes in gold were on the low side, while in silver they were moderate.
In Lisbon this week, at the LBMA conference Metals Focus launched its Precious Metals Investment Focus 2022/2023. It noted that the Fed’s interest rate policy was driving precious metal prices lower (with the exception of palladium). It expected dollar interest rates to continue to rise into next year but a hard landing would be avoided, and gold would remain rangebound until Q2 2023. It also forecast that “improving conditions should bolster investor risk appetite, which may encourage investors to rotate into equities rather than gold.”

“Every dead Russian and Ukrainian in this war, every family anywhere in the world that suffers the consequences of this war, every business that shuts down because of the economic damage this war is causing and the increased risk of nuclear annihilation, it’s all US Govt made.” Twitter @KimDotcom

Let’s bring these over embroidered narratives down to kindergarten level so NATO’s huffers, puffers and bluffers can understand.
So here we are, forced to castigate all Russians, those far away people about whom NATO’s scribes know absolutely nothing. Why is that? Why must we waste yet more time debunking NATO’s stupid libels that delightful Russian children’s stories are undermining the fabric of French society? Why is The Economist insisting we burn the works of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy without even reading, never mind musing on them? What is it about Russian Special Olympians that we must hate them as if they were invading Martians? Is it to make us more despicable Nazis than even the worst of Hitler’s henchmen ever were?

Russia is the boogeyman: This has been the story told to Americans as long as I can remember and I am getting close to hitting 58 years-old.
From the Cuban Missile Crisis to the 2016 presidential election, all we have ever heard is how horrible Russia is. Granted, Russia, nor its leaders have ever been “choir boys,” without any dirt on their hands, and as an American, I would personally never want someone like Russia President Vladimir Putin as a leader here in America.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) is no longer the progressive sweetheart in the public eye. AOC’s willingness to thrust America into war has caused her supporters to see her as a hypocrite and a coward. “I believed in you, and you became the very thing you sought to fight against,” one member in a Bronx AOC town hall event yelled. “You ARE the establishment!”

In their new documentary ‘Vatican Girl’, Netflix tries to uncover clues to the murder of 15-year old Emanuel Orlandi who may possibly have been raped and murdered by a Cardinal
The Roman Catholic Church has a long and storied history of priests, bishops and cardinals who sexually abused untold tens of thousands of young boys and girls, with some of them like Emanuela Orlandi who were never heard from again. What did the Vatican, over the reign of multiple pope kids do about it? In nearly 100% of the cases, they covered it up, transferred the offending clergy member to a new country and a new church to do it all over again. Opus Bono Sacerdotii is just one such group, but I digress.
