Kashyap “Kash” Patel was confirmed to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in a 51-49 Senate vote Thursday, despite Democrats’ desperate attempts to block his nomination.
Patel, a former federal prosecutor and prior Trump administration intelligence official, won the vote without help from Republican Sens. Susan Collins (ME) and Lisa Murkowski (AK), who joined the Democrats against him.
The Senate went 51-47 to advance his nomination earlier Thursday, with Sens. John Boozman (R-AR) and John Fetterman (D-PA) missing the vote.

Russian officials have said they intend to plan “peaceful” nuclear projects with BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) state Ethiopia. Both countries have agreed to cooperate in the use of nuclear technologies for “peaceful purposes,” according to a statement posted on the Russian government’s Telegram channel on Wednesday.
Moscow reported that the officials also discussed expanding bilateral ties in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, and tourism, and the possibility of implementing joint projects in information and communication technologies, education, and medicine.

The defense of free speech by Vice President J.D. Vance in Munich, Germany, has led to open panic on the left in fighting to maintain European censorship and speech criminalization. The response of the American press and pundits was crushingly familiar. From CBS News to members of Congress, Vance (and anyone who supports his speech) was accused of using Nazi tactics. It is the demonization of dissent.
In one of the most bizarre examples, CBS anchor Margaret Brennan confronted Secretary of State Marco Rubio over Vance’s support for free speech given the fact that he was “standing in a country where free speech was weaponized to conduct a genocide.”
