Former President Donald Trump is now beating Vice President Kamala Harris in the Decision Desk HQ/The Hill election forecast for the first time.
Trump has taken a massive ten-point lead over Harris, with a 52 percent chance of winning to her 42 percent.

The seven battleground states will ultimately decide on the outcome of the 2024 election, with Pennsylvania being one of the most closely watched states. Former President Donald Trump managed to win the Keystone State in 2016 but lost to President Joe Biden four years later.
The two presidential candidates are neck-to-neck just weeks before the highly contentious election.
With the next POTUS most likely being determined by just a few votes in Pennsylvania, the candidates have spent much time and money reaching voters. However, that strategy doesn’t seem to work for Harris as more and more Democrats flee the party.

In December 2022, Canada imposed strict sanctions on Gilbert Bigio, frequently referred to as “Haiti’s only billionaire” and the deeply impoverished country’s “richest man.” He, along with two other super-wealthy Haitian citizens, was accused by Ottowa of using his outsized influence and power in the country “to protect and enable the illegal activities of the armed criminal gangs” that have been tearing Port-au-Prince apart for years. Since then, Bigio has remained at liberty and unpunished – meanwhile, Haiti has slid ever further into catastrophe.
Markedly, no other Western country – notably the sanctions-happy U.S. – followed Canada’s lead. While wave upon wave of UN-mandated peacekeepers from every corner of the world have been deployed to Haiti in recent years, they have been unable to quell – and often exacerbated – the violence that has left the country without a functioning state or civil society. Kenya, currently leading an international “anti-gang” initiative in Port-au-Prince, recently called for the effort to be transformed into a dedicated U.N. peacekeeping operation.

The Duran presented on October 17 an excellent discussion between John Helmer and Gilbert Doctorow moderated by Alexander Mercouris about how Russian military and civilian decisions are made. The knowledge I gained enables me to update my take on the situation, which I will now do.
The Ukrainian invasion of Kursk, which has been defeated, was a game changer and possibly will result in the termination of Ukraine as an independent country. The reason is that the invasion convinced the Russian public, the General Staff of the Russian military, and buttressed the case of Russian politicians that an independent Ukraine is inconsistent with Russian security.

Iranian Brigadier Gen. Ebrahim Rostami has come forward to claim that Iran currently has in its arsenal weapons that are “superior” to any of the nuclear bombs currently held by Western power brokers. Rostami made this claim after Iranian lawmakers were called on to review the country’s non-nuclear military doctrine to remove the ban on developing nuclear weapons amid ongoing threats from Israel about a military strike.

Ghana has introduced a gold coin in an effort to boost savings and manage money-market liquidity.
According to Bank of Ghana Governor Ernest Addison, the coin will be refined to 99.99 percent purity and will come in 1-ounce, half-ounce, and quarter-ounce sizes.
“This initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to deepen financial markets by offering other avenues for savers to invest. It also serves as a significant reminder of our nation’s rich gold heritage,” Addison said when he introduced the coin.

The question on our worry-list is how long foreign investors will continue to support the recklessly ballooning US Treasury debt, that has soared to $35.8 trillion, from $35.0 trillion on July 27. If demand slacks off, yields will have to rise to create more demand, and that could get expensive.
