The ongoing controversy over the decision by Puffin, a subsidiary of Penguin Random House, to censor new editions of Roald Dahl books has taken another dystopian twist, with owners of Roald Dahl ebooks reporting that their copies have been automatically updated to the new, woke versions.
The publisher’s decision to airbrush Roald Dahl children’s books with woke language, with altered texts including classics like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The BFG has attracted widespread outrage, particularly in Great Britain.

Senior Colonel Shi Yi, a spokesman for the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) Eastern Theater Command, said that the Chinese army is now on “high alert” after the United States “deliberately damaged the regional situation and jeopardized peace and stability” in the region. The recent comments are in response to a United States plane flying through the Taiwan Strait.
Becasue of this maneuver by the U.S., the colonel added that the Chinese military was “on high alert to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Woody Harrelson may not be invited back to Saturday Night Live after his monologue this past weekend, but libertarians and vaccine critics everywhere were delighted. Everyone’s favorite “hippie redneck” blasted Covid vaccines and mandates, and the audience was shocked into silence.
It’s a pretty safe bet that Harrelson didn’t run his actual monologue past producers beforehand. He rambled in the first part of his monologue then, in what seems like improv, stuck the zinger at the end before they could queue up the giant hook and pull him offstage, vaudeville-style.

The argument that Covid-19 leaked from the virology lab in Wuhan, China (the only Level 4 lab in Asia) is growing louder after years of Big Tech and governments censoring the Covid debate.
Last summer, the WHO, an avid protector of the Chinese government, made a sharp change in attitude by admitting the possibility of a lab leak. A Senate Committee on Health Education, Labor, and Pensions noted last fall, “substantial evidence suggests that the COVID-19 pandemic was the result of a research-related incident associated with a laboratory in Wuhan.” The FBI and other intelligence agencies have also investigated the Wuhan Lab.
by Karl Denninger, Market Ticker:
It was only a matter of time before our so-called foreign policy turned into a serious problem with someone who can punch back.
For decades the United States has arrogated to itself the capacity to tell other nations who they should have as leaders. Who must run said nation, and who may not. The alliances that are to be coddled, and those that are forbidden. This is preposterous, of course, in that national sovereignty is precisely that, yet we have for decades believed we have the “righteous authority” to issue such diktat.
The CIA has topped some 50 governments over time. Some more-or-less openly, some on the down low. Iran is an infamous one that ultimately blew up in our face. Deciding that the Iranian government was unacceptable because it expropriated the property of a British company, not even a US concern, we interfered, toppled the government and installed the Shah. This ultimately led to the Iranian revolution and the seizure of hostages at our Embassy, never mind a whole bunch of other terrorism.

In the 1992 book The End of History and the Last Man, philosopher Francis Fukuyama posited that “liberal democracy” would become the world’s unassailable, default norm. Since then, many would argue, we’ve gotten much liberalism and the appearance of democracy, but the substance doesn’t match the style. And a recent study of liberty in the world vindicates that claim.
In fact, finds the Cato Institute’s latest edition of the Human Freedom Index, after reaching a high point in 2007 (just before the Obama years, do note), worldwide freedom had been in steady decline. But that has changed:
by Michael Snyder, End Of The American Dream:
Doesn’t it seem like our world is rapidly getting a lot stranger? Because of what I do, I come across a lot of very weird stuff, and I am going to share some examples with you today. To me, it really does appear that our world is slowly going mad. From the very top of society to the very bottom, people are going totally nuts. I don’t know how else to say it. It is almost as if some form of collective madness has gripped all of us and won’t let go. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that things are only going to get more insane in the months ahead.

On February 19th, the National Mall in Washington, DC saw its largest antiwar rally in 20 years. The speakers list included four former US presidential candidates and a broad and diverse collection of antiwar activists from beyond the left and right.
The aptly-named “Rage Against War Machine” rally drew thousands of attendees, however many pro-war advocates eagerly pointed out that it did not match in size some of the larger rallies against the Iraq war 20 years ago.

“Whether the mask is labeled fascism, democracy, or dictatorship of the proletariat, our great adversary remains the apparatus—the bureaucracy, the police, the military.”—Simone Weil, French philosopher
It’s hard to say whether we’re dealing with a kleptocracy (a government ruled by thieves), a kakistocracy (a government run by unprincipled career politicians, corporations and thieves that panders to the worst vices in our nature and has little regard for the rights of American citizens), or if we’ve gone straight to an idiocracy.
