Four people are confirmed dead and multiple others are injured after a shooting Saturday night in Dadeville, Alabama, according to authorities.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said it began an investigation after the shooting happened at around 10:34 p.m. near the 200 Block of Broadnax Street in Dadeville, located in Tallapoosa County.

New Zealand extended its mandatory seven-day quarantine for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) until 2024, with the possibility of a further extension beyond that year.
The extension was announced on April 11 by NZ Prime Minister Chris Hipkins, who noted that his cabinet performed a “difficult balancing act” and had to “weigh a number of things quite carefully.” Under NZ law, those who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate for seven days from when they first show symptoms.

The Poudre School District, in Colorado, will be piloting a controversial biometrics program to make the distribution of free lunches more “efficient.”
The pilot program will launch by May 25, 2023 in elementary, middle, and high schools, if it doesn’t go contested.
According to the school district, the biometric scans would take around two seconds. The program will use identiMetrics scanners, which will replace the current system where students have to enter their ID number on a keyboard to access their free school meal.
The fingerprints will be stored locally by the school district.

For several years I practiced law. I was counsel to many people who’d been indicted by a grand jury and subsequently tried before a jury, a jury tasked with deciding the guilt or innocence of my client.
As any litigator will tell you, going to court is at best a dice roll. There is no way to tell — despite the proliferation of professional jury consultants — to predict which way a jury will go in a given case. I’ve personally sat there with my client, convincing him that his innocence was obvious to anyone who’d heard the evidence, only to have a jury file back into a courtroom and pronounce a guilty verdict. Likewise, I’ve been certain that my client would be escorted out of the courtroom in cuffs, only to hear “not guilty” pronounced by the jury foreman.
