Sputnik reached out to one of Russia’s most renowned military observers to learn why engaging in nuclear sabre-rattling with Moscow is a very bad idea.

“If France dares to use nuclear weapons against Russia, the response will be nuclear,” Arsenal Otechestva editor Alexey Leonkov said, commenting on Macron’s belligerent remarks in Wednesday’s address to the nation.

The hiring of Americans apparently surged in February as more migrants left the workforce once President Donald Trump ended the Bidenomics policy of importing migrants for U.S. jobs.

“Big gains for native-born Americans … Employment for native-born workers went up by 284,000 while foreign-born workers went down by 87,000,” Trump told the media in the Oval Office. He added:

For the first time in 15 months, the job gains for native-born Americans — for American people, people born in America — exceeded job gains for migrant and foreign-born workers. This is the first time that’s happened in more than 15 months.

“Employment for native-born workers went up by 284,000 while foreign-born workers went down by 87,000,” he said.

The rapid spread of the H5N1 bird flu virus in cattle and poultry flocks in the United States warrants a warning from health experts. A claim has been made that urgent global action on pandemic preparedness to close dangerous gaps in the world’s ability to develop and deliver new protective vaccines, flu and disease outbreak specialists are warning.

In a letter to the journal Science, CEPI’s Executive Director for Preparedness and Response Dr. Nicole Lurie and six other experts said the bird flu virus (known as H5N1 and known to be very severe in some human cases) had in recent years crossed species from birds to mammals, including dairy cattle. It is now causing widespread exposure and sporadic human infections in the U.S. and beyond. At least one person has died from H5N1 infection in the U.S., and a teenager in Canada suffered critical illness before eventually recovering.

In December 2024, a Romanian court cancelled the second round of the planned Presidential election and annulled the completed first round, citing (totally theoretical) “Russian interference”.

This caused massive protests in Romania, as you can imagine. The first round had been won by right winger Călin Georgescu following a social media-based campaign, and he was predicted to quite easily win the second round as well.

The Romanian opposition – denied a likely victory – took their case to the European Court of Human Rights.
