Sulzberger, The New York Times publisher, in an article on CNN titled “New York Times publisher sounds the alarm on Trump employing authoritarian anti-press ‘playbook,’” warned the world about what Donald Trump “might” employ in a second term. “My colleagues and I have spent months studying how press freedom has been attacked in Hungary – as well as in other democracies such as India and Brazil,” he wrote. Sulzberger warns us not to underestimate the power of this playbook.

Those times are burned into my brain with all the warmth and intensity of a Kodak Technicolor snapshot, but they are desperately as far away from our present-day reality as if you were looking at them from the wrong end of a telescope. In 2024, America is a leaderless nation, in extreme distress, and rushing headlong into oblivion. It America were fireworks, you’re watching the grand finale.

Pakistan’s air force launched retaliatory airstrikes early Thursday in Iran against alleged militant hideouts, killing at least nine people and further raising tensions between the neighbors.
The war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has now gone past the 100 day mark, with the Biden administration telling the Jews they cannot defeat Hamas. Add to that the missile strikes that the US and the UK have been conducting against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Add to that Iran launching missiles on Pakistan two days ago with Pakistan retaliating today. If there was a bowl labeled ‘wars and rumours of wars’, it would be overflowing on the table right now. But what you really have to watch out for is the cup of the Lord. That one’s a real doozy.

The Doomsday Book was recently released by the Fed in response to a Freedom of Information Act filed by finance professor Emre Kuvvet. Bizarrely, the Federal Reserve initially denied Kuvvet’s FOIA request, but its New York branch later provided the document with only names redacted.
