Telegram announced on Monday that they will hand over users’ IP addresses and phone numbers in response to “valid legal requests” from governments around the world.
The move comes in the wake of Telegram founder Pavel Durov getting arrested and criminally charged in France.
Durov announced on Telegram that “we have updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, ensuring they are consistent across the world.”

It’s become a truism in the past few years that younger people get their news predominantly, if not entirely, from social media. Turns out it’s true, but it may not be an information crisis, as some would have you believe.
Of course, as an old-time newspaperman, I was one of those who thought that the country was not being served well by this increasing dependency on unvetted news sources and the implied repudiation of traditional media. How could the country survive if the next generations turned their back on the trusted voices of the New York Times, the Washington Post, CBS, NBC, ABC, and “the most trusted name in news” – CNN?

In Israel’s latest air strike on Beirut, Lebanon, Ibrahim Aqil, the leader of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan unit was killed. Competent leaders are very rare, and it seems Israel has defanged Hezbollah by eliminating its competent leaders.

Kennedy responded by revealing that he has much bigger plans under Donald Trump to fix the existing agencies so they work for We the People rather than big industry.

Earlier this year I recommended Ally Financial (ALLY – $34.79) as a longer term short. On Tuesday this past week at an investor conference, the CEO of ALLY admitted that the auto delinquencies and charge-offs jumped considerably more than its internal risk-control model led management to expect in July and August. He added further that the Company expects charge-offs to rise going forward and acknowledged that ALLY’s “borrower is struggling with high inflation and cost of living.” The stock plunged, closing down 17.6%.

The FBI has disrupted a botnet controlled by Chinese state-sponsored hackers that infected over 1.2 million devices worldwide, including over 385,000 in the US.
The botnet, utilising a variant of the Mirai malware, targeted consumer devices like routers, cameras, and storage devices to steal personal information and potentially conduct cyberattacks.
The hackers, identified as Integrity Technology Group, are a publicly traded company in China that sold access to the botnet to customers.

California’s recent legislative move to limit the “addictive” features of social media platforms for minors has been solidified by Governor Gavin Newsom’s endorsement. The move will force platforms to change their social media platforms depending on the age of users – meaning that platforms will likely have to introduce digital ID systems to verify users.
