News of another troubling failure within the Biden administration recently came to light, underscoring why Americans have lost all trust in the U.S. government and its public agencies. The failure involved the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) – a behemoth public agency that was given hundreds of billions of dollars of federal money to dole out during the pandemic.
The latest failure involved disturbing new claims about lack of accountability within the HHS, which involved fourteen National Institutes of Health (NIH) officials.1 Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, announced in a press conference that several key NIH public officials – including National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci – allegedly served unlawfully in their NIH positions from December 2021 to June 2023, calling into question the legitimacy of $25 billion in biomedical research grants awarded in 2022 alone.2

The Southern border is wide open to terrorists wanting to harm America, according to the FBI. This is just the short list of very real potential disasters that could easily strike. Keep in mind, every single one of these could all happen during 2024. Hemke says, “It’s not fixable. It’s just not fixable. It’s such a joke to hear from the politicians that you are going to get this election year. They will say, ‘We have to have a balanced budget. . . . We have to get the federal budget deficit back to pre-Covid levels.’ Yeah, right. Good luck. That’s not going to happen.”

The “X-Date” is the day the U.S. Treasury goes broke. It’s not the same as the debt ceiling but it is a consequence of the failure of Congress to raise the debt ceiling.
Right now, the Treasury is at the debt ceiling. That means it has no legal authority to issue net new debt. It can issue new debt if old debt is maturing. That keeps the total debt unchanged; you’re just rolling over maturing debt into new debt without increasing the total debt.

In a long and thoughtful article on an issue that is as emotionally fraught as it is intellectually and morally challenging, Dr. David Bell explains how the organization’s abortion care guidance published in March 2022 calls for babies to “be killed up until the moment they emerge from the birth canal, without delay, whenever a pregnant woman requests it.” Thus Recommendation 2(LP) says that abortion should be available on request and 3(LP) advises against “laws and other regulations that prohibit abortion based on gestational age limits” (p. xxv).

Germany is doing away with children’s paper passports in favor of biometric documents with embedded electronic chips beginning next year.
The children’s passports had to be renewed annually and cost a one-time fee of €13 (approximately US$14.13) with €6 annual renewals. The electronic passport will cost €37.50 ($40.77), but it is valid for up to six years for Germans up to 25 years old, according to Google’s machine translation of reporting by the news publication Focus Online.
