These weapons unlock like a smartphone with the owner’s fingerprints or other biometric data.
Biometric Update reports that Colorado-based startup Biofire says it will begin shipping its fingerprint and facial recognition-equipped handguns by the end of March.

U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman, appointed by Barack Obama, ruled that an illegal immigrant has the right to bear arms under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
This ruling came about in the case of Heriberto Carbajal-Flores, who faced charges under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(5), a federal statute that prohibits noncitizens without legal status in the U.S. from “possess[ing] in or affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition; or to receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.”

I like to rock the boat a bit, hoping that people will break away from the confines of the left/right media paradigm that controls so much of our thinking. Sometimes, this approach can get you into trouble, as certain beliefs permeate the public consciousness, and people have their aspirations wrapped up in the idea those beliefs will bring change. A good example is the topic I discussed in last week’s article concerning the gun control and mental health argument. The political right (and I don’t mean the politicians) heavily invests in the mental health argument against the left’s continued push for gun control. It seems to make sense because a person must be suffering from a behavioral disorder to be driven to commit mass murder.

Most of us are familiar with the media narratives when it comes to reporting on mass shootings. The familiar beats of coverage are so rote as to basically qualify as tropes.
Conversely, we see by now that whenever there is a deviation from the expected characteristics of a shooter the coverage is notably different. In fact, it has become a cliched punchline that if the featured individual is found to be a member from one of the protected minority classes then the response becomes, “…And that’s when the story disappeared from the front page.”

He also revealed to the FBI that he intended to transport explosive munitions to the border to be used against government agents and illegal immigrants. It sounds like a perfect opportunity to charge him under the nation’s anti-terrorism laws. Yet, despite these intentions to start the next American revolution, Faye was only charged with selling an unregistered NFA item to an undercover agent.
