The murder of Russian Major Gen. Kirillov occurred the day after the lame duck government of Germany was given its final death notice, with 394 parliamentarians voting No Confidence in the Scholz coalition. With elections likely on Feb. 23, this means there will be no meaningful government in Germany when Donald Trump takes office in January, and with Macron hanging by a thread in Paris.
