A U.S. Border Patrol internal memo has revealed that about one-third of the cameras in its primary surveillance network along the southern U.S. border are currently non-functional. This presents significant challenges for border agents tasked with monitoring unauthorized crossings.

The memo, obtained in early October, highlighted issues that affect approximately 150 of the 500 cameras installed on surveillance towers lining the U.S.-Mexico border. The widespread malfunctioning is attributed to “technical problems.”

The memo criticizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for failing to provide adequate service and maintenance for the systems. The FAA will send personnel to address the ongoing issues while the Border Patrol considers replacing the FAA with a contractor to ensure better technical support.

The Border Patrol union in Laredo, Texas, expressed concern about the inoperative cameras, stating, “The American taxpayer has made significant investments in technology along the border, and they expect that this technology is operational.”

A majority of Americans believe the Biden-Harris government is allowing illegal immigration at scale in order to create a “permanent majority” for the Democrats over time, as naturalized citizens and their recent descendants tend to skew Democratic. Illegal immigration has reached unprecedented levels under the current government, with some projections estimating it could match all legal immigration from 1892 to 1954 by the time Joe Biden’s term ends.

Vice President Kamala Harris is signaling she wants to provide the 11 million-plus illegal aliens already in the U.S. a pathway to citizenship. Previously, she has campaigned on decriminalizing illegal immigration and defunding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
