It has emerged that failed Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks had encrypted messaging accounts on platforms in three foreign countries, prompting yet more questions about his background.
The New York Post reports that Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), who is on the Congressional task force investigating the assassination attempt, revealed the findings, calling it strange.

Waltz noted that the accounts, based on platforms in Belgium, Germany, and New Zealand, were specifically used to send text messages via an encrypted code that can only be deciphered by a device belonging to the recipient.
“Why does a 19-year-old kid who is a health care aide need encrypted platforms not even based in the United States, but based abroad, where most terrorist organizations know it is harder for our law enforcement to get into? That’s a question I’ve had since day one,” Waltz stated.
Waltz also slammed the FBI and the Secret Service for withholding information.
“They need to be releasing information as they come across it because this wasn’t an isolated incident,” he said, adding “The threats are continually Iran’s threats.”
As we previously highlighted, a second plot to assassinate Trump at the same rally, reportedly at the behest of Iran, was uncovered beforehand.
Earlier this week, a leading watchdog group charged that the FBI is hiding records relating to its coordination with the Secret Service for the rally.
Waltz, an Army Special Forces veteran, also suggested that he believes Crooks may not have acted alone.
