The FBI should not be trusted to investigate the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump, given the scandal-plagued federal agency’s sordid recent history with America’s 45th president, renowned political advisor Roger Stone told The New American in an exclusive interview.

Stone’s Background

Stone, who authored a bestselling book about the assassination of John F. Kennedy and is currently working on a new book about the failed attempt to assassinate Ronald Reagan, says Deep State operatives have orchestrated numerous plots to remove high-profile political figures in the past.

“They have successfully killed an American president,” Stone said on Monday, referring to the Kennedy assassination. “We still don’t definitively know who killed Kennedy. The American people have never been told the truth about who tried to kill Ronald Reagan.”

Asked whether the FBI could be trusted to lead the investigation into what happened in Butler, Pennsylvania, Stone was clear. “No, we can’t trust the FBI to investigate themselves,” he said the Monday interview on “Conversations That Matter.”

“We can’t trust FBI to investigate the Secret Service,” he continued. “We can’t trust the Secret Service to investigate the Secret Service. This Justice Department is incapable of directing an inquiry into this because they are so political.”

Secret Service Failure

On Monday, federal lawmakers grilled U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Director Kimberly Cheatle in a public hearing on Capitol Hill. Several of the animated exchanges went viral on social media. In one, Cheatle admitted she had not visited the site of the rally — nine days after the shooting occurred.

Less than 24 hours after the hearing, Cheatle announced her resignation. “In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that, I have made the difficult decision to step down as your Director,” she wrote in a letter to agency staffers on Tuesday. “The Secret Service’s solemn mission is to protect our nation’s leaders and financial infrastructure. On July 13th, we fell short on that mission.”

Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) announced on Tuesday the creation of a bipartisan task force to probe the security failures surrounding the assassination attempt. Stone considers Congress to be the only institution capable of leading a reliable and credible investigation.

“There’s so much overflow of information in the modern age of the internet here, you do need to sort through things to make sure you get the facts,” Stone said. “Only the House Republicans have the authority to thoroughly investigate this.”

Assassination Attempt Predicted Years Ago

In 2017, Stone predicted in an explosive and wide-ranging interview with this writer for The New American that the “Deep State” would do anything and everything necessary to stop Trump. Assassination was “Plan C,” to be used if the Mueller “Russia-collusion hoax” and an effort to remove him with the 25th Amendment failed. Seven years later, Stone believes the recent attempt to do that was the result of those previous efforts having failed to remove Trump from office and prevent him from running for reelection.

“I lived through the Russian collusion ordeal,” said Stone, whose home was raided by the FBI as part of the attack on numerous Trump associates. “Through all of that experience I learned that they will use any means necessary and breaking the law means nothing to those who are currently in power. Some of these acts are treasonous.”

“The coup failed. They didn’t bankrupt him. They didn’t keep him off the ballot in 50 states,” Stone added. “There was only one other option… to kill him.”

The legendary political operative, who has served multiple presidents going back to Richard Nixon, said he has had concerns for years about the reliability of Trump’s Secret Service detail. He also warned that the former president’s frequent rallies increased the risk of a potential assassination attempt.
