Pittsburgh’s new police policy puts citizens in harm’s way, with more cities to soon follow

Our nation’s culture has been profoundly transformed at every level of the governmental system. “We the People” are experiencing issues we never could have imagined. Did we as Americans grow lethargically complacent over the past few decades by allowing too much trust in the political leaderships within our communities, states, and nation, only to implode from the inside out?

The frustration, anger, and anxiety levels around the country under Bidenomics carry a sense of hopelessness and lawlessness, a bitter reminder of the deceitful political ideologies conducted under the former Bush, Clinton, and Obama administrations. Defunding the police and the war on cops has had devasting consequences on policing our communities.

We’ve experienced a decline at every level of the once-upon-a-time American dream, which has turned into a nightmare after the Biden-Obama regime. You can add a measure of the democrat’s illegal migrant agenda, and you know the rest of the story, which displays the political norm spread across the country.

Let’s shine a spotlight on the American city of Pittsburgh, the second largest city in Pennsylvania and home to the steel industry and the famous NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unless you’ve been paying close attention, you may not have heard the latest news about Pittsburgh’s new public safety measures. These measures are also being echoed nationwide, with some 15 other states considering following the same policing policies.

The city’s police bureau has previously employed over 900 officers, but not now, as recruitment numbers have dramatically fallen in the past year. Under the old policy, there was a need for a minimum of 840 officers to police; over the past year, the total available personnel fell short, with only 750 officers available. The bureau also stated there would be a total of only 22 of those officers covering the entire city; that’s a crime in and of itself.

Monday, February 26, 2024, marked the beginning of that transition of police policies, which is home to more than 310,000 citizens. The police bureau has specified that officers are still available to address emergencies but will no longer respond to specific calls, including theft, harassment, criminal mischief, and burglary alarms, between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.

They will only respond to “in-progress emergency calls.” All incoming emergency calls leave other incidents to be handled by a telephone reporting unit.

Say goodbye to the desk clerk officer at the six-zone stations. The new sheriff in town is the call boxes linked to 911 to take emergency calls.

Concerns are mounting in real-time as the city’s officers have become handcuffed by the lack of police workforce. Homeowners and business owners feel restless regarding their safety during the 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. lapse in police protection time. They think this is an open window to a shopping spree for the criminal element.
