“Hamilton 68’s blue-red founding team of Jamie Fly and Laura Rosenberger, told Politico they couldn’t reveal the ‘dashboard’ accounts because ‘the Russians will simply shut them down.’ The real reason? It was bullshit,” Taibbi tweeted.

Ambitious media frauds Stephen Glass and Jayson Blair crippled the reputations of the New Republic and New York Times, respectively, by slipping years of invented news stories into their pages. Thanks to the Twitter Files, we can welcome a new member to their infamous club: Hamilton 68.
In an article posted today, titled “Move Over, Jayson Blair: Meet Hamilton 68, the New King of Media Fraud,’ Taibbi writes:
If one goes by volume alone, this oft-cited neoliberal think-tank that spawned hundreds of fraudulent headlines and TV news segments may go down as the single greatest case of media fabulism in American history. Virtually every major news organization in America is implicated, including NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times and the Washington Post. Mother Jones alone did at least 14 stories pegged to the group’s “research.” Even fact-checking sites like Politifact and Snopes cited Hamilton 68 as a source.
The Twitter Files reveal Hamilton 68’s “analytic method” designed to supposedly track “Russian influence activities online.” A forensic analysis revealed “that out of 644 accounts, just 36 were registered in Russia, and many of those were associated with RT,” a legitimate news source, although RT and Sputnik were later banned by the European Union, that is to say, a union of unelected bureaucrats wedded to the practice of taking out political opposition.
Examining further, Twitter execs were shocked. The accounts Hamilton 68 claimed were linked to “Russian influence activities online” were not only overwhelmingly English-language (86%), but mostly “legitimate people,” largely in the U.S., Canada, and Britain.
This functioned as a method to smother discussion on a range of issues at odds with USG and EU narratives.
For instance, “Dennis Michael Lynch and progressives like Consortium editor Joe Lauria” were targeted to have their political speech curtailed. “It’s crucial to understand that the list captured not just Trump supporters but a range of political dissidents, including leftists, anarchists and humorists.”
The primary targets are largely those who assail the state with words—Trump supporters, antiwar activists, libertarians, and those of us who find the centralized USG war state despicable.
For the record, I have been banned twice on Twitter, the second time (prior to Musk) for daring to take the state to task on its warmongering over Ukraine. I am of the belief I was, after reinstatement, “shadow banned.” Traffic to my account dropped precipitously. I no longer post to the void.
