‘Having children is why you’re worried about your price for gas, it’s why you’re concerned about how much food costs,’ Abrams claimed.
Pro-abortion Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams on Wednesday floated a grotesque solution to America’s ongoing inflation woes: Families worried about soaring gas prices and expensive grocery bills, she suggested, can simply kill their preborn babies to cut back on household costs.

Abrams, who’s running for governor in Georgia against incumbent Brian Kemp after previously losing the 2018 gubernatorial challenge, made the comments in an interview with MSNBC contributor Mike Barnicle on the station’s “Morning Joe” program.
Responding to Barnicle’s observation that abortion as a political issue fails to motivate voters as much as issues like inflation and the high cost of living, Abrams argued that “having children is why you’re worried about your price for gas, it’s why you’re concerned about how much food costs.”
“For women, this is not a reductive issue,” she said. “You can’t divorce being forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy from the economic realities of having a child.”

Abrams went on to suggest that “it’s important for us to have both-and conversations,” adding that as governor she could also help address the cost of housing and education.
Continued to frame abortion within an economic context, the Democratic gubernatorial nominee told listeners that “women, half the population, especially those of child-bearing age, they understand that having a child is absolutely an economic issue.”

According to Abrams, “only politicians” see abortion as “only another cultural conversation.”
“It is a real biological, economic, imperative conversation that women need to have,” she said.
Abrams, who has frequently claimed she won the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial race despite losing to Kemp, immediately drew sharp backlash on social media for seeming to suggest that American families could alleviate their financial difficulties by killing their preborn babies.
