The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative backed by President Donald Trump and spearheaded by Elon Musk, has revealed stunning findings in a newly released survey of unemployment insurance claims, uncovering nearly $400 million in fraudulent disbursements made since 2020. The data, shared on the DOGE account on X, highlights a staggering failure of oversight in the unemployment benefits system, with benefits being distributed to individuals born decades into the future, toddlers, and even people allegedly older than any living human on record.

According to DOGE’s survey, the system approved unemployment benefits for:

  • 24,500 individuals listed as over 115 years old, totaling $59 million in payments,

  • 28,000 children aged 1 to 5 years old, who received $254 million,

  • 9,700 individuals with birthdates more than 15 years in the future, who were paid $69 million.

Among the most egregious examples, DOGE found a claim filed under the birthdate 2154, which resulted in a $41,000 payout.

“This is another incredible discovery by the DOGE team, finding nearly $400 million in fraudulent unemployment payments,” said Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The Labor Department is committed to recovering Americans’ stolen tax dollars. We will catch these thieves and keep working to root out egregious fraud — accountability is here.”

Elon Musk, who leads the Trump administration’s government efficiency campaign, shared the findings online, writing, “Your tax dollars were going to pay fraudulent unemployment claims for fake people born in the future! This is so crazy that I had to read it several times before it sank in.”

Musk further noted the systemic failure in basic identity validation protocols, stating, “The oldest living American is 114 years old, so it is safe to say that anyone 115 or older is collecting ‘unemployment’ due to being dead. There was no sanity check for impossibly young or impossibly old people for unemployment insurance.”

The revelation has triggered outrage across social media and in political circles. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) responded directly to Musk, writing, “Reckless incompetence.”

DOGE was launched as part of President Trump’s second-term agenda to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse throughout the federal government. The task force, using data analytics and artificial intelligence, is charged with investigating inefficiencies and corruption within federal programs.
