President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he plans to release documents that he claims will prove widespread fraud in the 2020 election, asserting that he “won by a lot” and calling the contest “a very corrupt election.” The remarks came during an interview with WMAL’s Vince Coglianese, in which Trump also discussed the Trump-Russia investigation and his ongoing effort to declassify related government documents.

“There’s been a lot of cheating going on,” President Trump said. “People have never seen anything like it, and we have to stop it.”

During the interview, Coglianese brought up Trump’s previous criticism of the law firm Perkins Coie and its role in hiring former British spy Christopher Steele to compile the so-called Steele dossier. That document was used as part of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Trump responded by shifting focus to the 2020 presidential election. “I think they’re going to learn how corrupt the election was,” he said. “It was a very corrupt election. You’re talking about the second election, I assume. That was an election that I won. I won by a lot.”

“You’re going to find that out,” Trump continued. “The documents are there. The numbers are there. We won that by a lot.”

He added that while the 2016 and 2024 elections were marked by strong Republican performance, the 2020 contest was different, which he attributed to pandemic-related voting changes. “The second one was the COVID nightmare, and a lot of that had to play. But that was a rigged election, totally rigged.”

Trump also told Coglianese that he is in the process of declassifying documents related to Crossfire Hurricane and the Russia investigation, which he says will reveal the full scope of what he described as an “abuse of power” and an effort to undermine his presidency.

The former president did not specify when the documents would be released or through what channels, but he emphasized that Americans will “find out” the truth.

“They’re going to see it,” he said. “We won three elections, and we did very well in the second one. Now, the third one, we blew it away. The third one, we said, ‘Too big to rig,’ and it was too big to rig.”

The statement comes amid continued debate over the legitimacy of the 2020 election and renewed calls from Trump’s supporters for investigations into alleged irregularities. While multiple audits and legal challenges failed to overturn the outcome, Trump has maintained that the election was stolen and has signaled plans to pursue further legal and political avenues to bring the information he claims to possess to the public.
