Jan. 6 — Four years ago, on January 6, 2021, demonstrators poured into the Congress, demanding a fair count of the vote, believing that Trump was denied re-election due to vote fraud. Events which unfolded that day were either a violent insurrection, according to Democrats and Never-Trumpers; or a “Day of Love”, according to Donald Trump. After the dust cleared, the election of Joe Biden was confirmed. In the weeks and months which followed, there were more than 1,240 arrests of participants in the events, resulting in 710 guilty pleas and 170 convictions. Trump has pledged to give a presidential pardon to those demonstrators presently in prison.

Yet, when both Houses of Congress convened on January 6, 2025 to certify the Electoral College tally for the 2024 election, the republic was still standing, and Trump will be heading back to the White House. His victory in the 2024 presidential race left his opponents shocked and demoralized, yet committed to do whatever they can to prevent him from implementing his agenda, which includes ending the war funded by the U.S. and NATO in Ukraine to “weaken Russia.”
Having failed to defeat him in the election by attacking him as a “threat to democracy”, and a “racist, misogynistic right-wing extremist”, one Trump loyalist said he expects his opponents to adopt a “more layered strategy” to contain him. This would include creating frictions within his “MAGA base”, by blocking him from succeeding in ending the war, controlling immigration, and “draining the swamp.”
The media is playing a major role in spreading confusion as to whether he can successfully negotiate an end to the war. Typical of this are stories planted saying it can’t be done, citing British sources, such as John Lough, a Chatham House “Russian expert”, who said that a ceasefire can only be achieved if Ukraine can negotiate from a “position of strength.” This is backed up by quotes from the usual “anonymous sources” who say Trump is changing his mind about cutting off aid to Ukraine, fearing that a “Putin victory” will make him “appear weak,” like Biden’s botched retreat from Afghanistan. As is often the case, there is little or no evidence to back up this “source.” Trump has dispatched retired General Keith Kellogg to begin a negotiating process to end the war. It is Biden, who is on his way out the door, who is continuing to empty America’s arms warehouses to provide a final 2 to 3 billion dollars worth of weapons to Ukraine
On immigration, Steve Bannon attacked Elon Musk for advocating issuance of H-B1 visas to recruit foreign digital engineers and techies to make up for the lack of talent from Americans to fill positions in Silicon Valley firms. He accused Musk of betraying the MAGA movement’s opposition to immigration. When Trump sided with Musk, Bannon positioned himself as the true defender of MAGA. One podcaster said it is important to remember that Trump dumped Bannon during his first term over his self-promotion as the author of the election victory. She asked, “Who benefits from Bannon’s flight forward egotism?” She added there is no reason to believe that the small numbers of H-B1 exemptions under discussion represents a turn by Trump away from toughening immigration laws and enforcement.
As for “draining the swamp”, the anti-Trumpers in both parties are gearing up to prevent the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, and Kash Patel as FBI Director. Gabbard has been at the forefront of exposing British-U.S. intel networks use of false flags, lies and covert ops to run regime change coups, to eliminate leaders of nations unwilling to submit to the War Hawk’s “Rules-Based Order.” She is being attacked as one whose honesty would threaten the continuation of such practices by TransAtlantic “old boys network.”. As for Patel, he has vowed to clean up the FBI, having spent the last years exposing the corruption and illegal actions of operatives of the Permanent Bureaucracy who concocted the lies of Russiagate to contain Trump during his first term.
