Former ICE Director and incoming Trump administration border czar Tom Homan has unveiled a bold plan to tackle the U.S. border crisis, targeting not only domestic issues but also the involvement of foreign governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and United Nations entities. Speaking on Fox News’s Hannity, Homan emphasized that preparations to secure the border are already underway, even before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.

“We’re not waiting until January 20th,” Homan told host Kellyanne Conway. “Governor Abbott and I are already coordinating efforts to secure Texas’s border at an unprecedented level.” Homan praised Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts, highlighting that illegal migration in Texas has dropped 86% due to policies reminiscent of Trump’s first term, including border barriers and stricter consequences for illegal crossings.

Texas as a Model for Nationwide Border Security

Homan plans to use Texas’s approach as a blueprint for federal strategy. He aims to reallocate resources by contracting out non-enforcement duties, such as transportation and administrative work, to allow officers to focus on frontline deportation operations.

“My plan is to contract out as much non-enforcement work as possible. We need officers on the streets for deportation operations, not behind desks,” Homan explained. He also vowed to double manpower in sanctuary cities and states resisting federal immigration laws, calling their pushback a significant obstacle to enforcement efforts.

Investigating Foreign Influence and NGOs

A cornerstone of Homan’s strategy is investigating the roles of international organizations and NGOs in enabling illegal immigration. The Trump administration intends to hold foreign governments and United Nations agencies accountable for their involvement in what Homan described as an orchestrated effort to undermine U.S. border security.

Reports from the House Judiciary GOP revealed that $81.7 million in taxpayer funds have been allocated to U.N. programs advising migrants on how to enter the U.S. This funding has facilitated the establishment of “migration centers” across Central and South America, which have aided nearly 70,000 migrants seeking resettlement options in the U.S.

Since 2021, the Biden administration has overseen the release of approximately 5.8 million illegal immigrants into the country, with an additional 1.9 million classified as “gotaways.” Homan accused the Biden administration of intentionally leaving the border unsecured, stating, “They want an open border because they believe these millions of people will be future Democratic voters.”

Transparency and Accountability

Homan emphasized that the Trump administration would focus on transparency and accountability in addressing the crisis. “We’ll investigate what the United Nations had to do with this, who in the Biden administration enabled it, and which NGOs were involved,” he said. “We’ll be transparent and tell the American people the truth about this border crisis.”
