“Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” President Biden stated. “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”
Hunter Biden, 54, was convicted in June on three felony firearm offenses, including making a false statement during a gun purchase and unlawful possession of a firearm as a drug user. In September, he pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion charges, admitting to failing to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes. Sentencing for these offenses was scheduled for December.

In June, when asked by ABC News if he would rule out a pardon for his son, President Biden responded affirmatively.
