One of the most vile political “strategies” used by the Democrats during the 2024 election cycle was focusing on abortion, killing unborn babies in the womb, and they were convinced by couching it in terms of “healthcare,” when abortion has nothing to do with care, or health most the time.
Kamala Harris made abortion a top priority, slamming Donald Trump on “abortion bans” at a Georgia rally, the media constantly claiming women had lost the “right” of being able to kill their unborn after Roe v Wade was overturned and the issue was sent back to the states.

Newsweek, just a week ago, headlined a piece with “Kamala Harris’ Abortion Rights Strategy Could Be Working,” where they claimed “experts and polling conducted on behalf of Newsweek,” told them abortion would help Harris win the election against Donald Trump.
Democrats did their part, and the media did theirs, all to make abortion the focus of the choice between Harris and Trump, despite dozens of polls, maybe hundreds in the last couple of years, saying that the economy was the top issue. Immigration, inflation, all polled above abortion, but they were convinced that abortion was more important to Democrat women.
It must have been such a shock for those morally bankrupt media pundits and Democrat politicians, not to mention social media users, chat forum commenters, and virtue signaling liberal men that thought that backing abortion would swing the election, to find out that exit polls showed only 14% of voters found abortion to be a top issue.
The headline by Politico states “Abortion dominated 2024. Trump won anyway.”
Nope, wrong. It only dominated in the liberal news, with sob stories and constant reminders, but voters had more important concerns, like feeding their families, just to name one. It dominated Democrat politicians talking points.
The rest of us were more worried about issues that affect the quality of life, and having unprotected sex, getting pregnant then running to use abortion as birth control rather than being responsible, is a choice, not something out of ones control like the cost of food, housing, and energy.
Also, Politico put it under the category of “healthcare,” when abortion has nothing to do with healthcare.
Democrats had bet on abortion remaining as strong a motivator as it has been in races around the country since Dobbs. But other issues, including the economy, proved more salient to many voters.
CNN’s national exit poll found that abortion was the top issue for only 14 percent of voters, behind democracy at 34 percent and the economy at 31 percent. That exit poll also underscored the political pragmatism of the GOP’s attempts to appear moderate on abortion: 28 percent of people who believe abortion should be legal voted for Trump.
“The post-Dobbs Dem overperformance was non-existent. Or at least was swamped by other factors favoring Trump,” said Tom Bonier, a senior adviser to the Democratic data firm TargetSmart, on X. “Clearly Trump was not viewed as a threat to abortion rights by enough voters, which is mind-boggling.”
Read the entire piece to see how the two women that wrote it sound (the tone of the piece) so disappointed that killing unborn babies didn’t top other issues.
I see that the archived link I used above to the politico piece, has a different headline now, on their website, which is why archiving is so handy. The headline now states “Harris hoped to ride abortion to another post-Dobbs Democratic victory. It didn’t work.”
