Former Trump White House Chief Advisor Stephen K. Bannon has made explosive accusations, claiming that the Biden-Harris administration is illegally holding him in prison past his scheduled release date, according to The National Pulse. Bannon, in a statement to the outlet, asserts that the administration is refusing to acknowledge his eligibility for release under the First Step Act, which is designed to allow early release for non-violent offenders.

“Kamala Harris is the ‘Queen of Mass Incarcerations,’” Bannon told The National Pulse. He added, “She has done nothing to implement President Trump’s heroic First Step Act, while allowing U.S. citizens eligible for early release to remain in prison.” Bannon accuses the vice president of neglecting American prisoners while welcoming undocumented immigrants, calling it a strategy that will hurt her in the upcoming election.
Bannon’s legal team filed a motion on August 29, 2024, to reinstate bail or place him under supervised release, citing delays in the government’s response to his petition. His attorneys have requested that the court grant his motion and order the Bureau of Prisons to release him immediately, stating the delay in addressing his case violates his rights.
The First Step Act, passed in December 2018, is a federal prison reform law designed to reduce sentences for non-violent offenders and provide opportunities for rehabilitation. Under the act, inmates can earn time credits for participating in educational or vocational programs, leading to earlier release into supervised settings like halfway houses or home confinement.
Bannon, whose release is scheduled for October 29th, claims he qualified for early release last month. He alleges that the Biden-Harris administration’s actions are part of a political effort to suppress one of former President Donald Trump’s most vocal advocates ahead of the 2024 election. He stated, “The Harris Bureau of Prisons is illegally holding me past my legal release date—trying to eliminate one of President Trump’s strongest advocates.”
