Robert F. Kennedy Jr., during a virtual event Monday, disclosed that former President Donald Trump has pledged him a powerful role over public health and agriculture agencies if Trump wins the upcoming election. According to Kennedy, Trump promised him influence over key branches within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the CDC, FDA, NIH, and select Department of Agriculture divisions.

Kennedy did not specify whether this role would take the form of a formal appointment, such as the HHS Secretary, which would require Senate confirmation and could prove contentious due to his vocal criticism of standard vaccine policies. However, Kennedy has suggested he may serve as an advisor if a formal title proves unfeasible. Trump’s campaign has not confirmed these discussions, describing them as “premature,” though they emphasized that Trump is open to collaborating with “passionate voices” like Kennedy to enhance food safety and address chronic health issues impacting children.
Kennedy, known for his advocacy through the Children’s Health Defense nonprofit, has long criticized certain public health measures, including vaccine mandates. His organization promotes minimizing toxic exposures to combat what it describes as a rise in chronic childhood illnesses.
During his Sunday rally at Madison Square Garden, Trump hinted at the collaboration, stating he would let Kennedy “go wild” reforming policies related to food and public health. “The key that President Trump has promised me is control of the public health agencies, which are Health and Human Services and its sub-agencies, CDC, FDA, NIH, and a few others … and then also the Department of Agriculture,” Kennedy said, according to Politico.
As part of Trump’s transition team, Kennedy has campaigned actively in battleground states, advocating for the policies he says would prioritize food safety and a reduction in chronic health conditions for children. The proposed role would offer Kennedy substantial influence over health policies he has long argued need reform.
Although Trump’s team did not directly confirm these details, the campaign reiterated Trump’s commitment to an inclusive advisory network in health and agriculture.
