from RAIR Foundation:
New Zealand has demonstrated why no free people should ever tolerate any form of gun registry.
Those against registries always claim that this is one step from confiscation.
New Zealand has proven that this is true with a current round of 62 gun licenses revoked for improper beliefs, which then require surrendering the firearms to the state.

According to Waikatotimes NZ, New Zealand authorities conducted “Operation Belfast” in 2022 to “identify risks to law enforcement.”
They focused on identifying members of a group called SovCits, a condensate of Sovereign Citizens.
This group is alleged to believe that the federal government is illegitimate.
62 members of the SovCits group had been identified as having firearms licences and they were promptly revoked by the state under the auspices that they did meet the criteria of being “a fit and proper person”. The actual criteria for holding a firearms license in that country.
As the term “A fit and proper person” is not clearly defined in NZ law, this gives the state a great deal of latitude as to who may or may not be in possession of firearms.
The International Bar Assn. is using NZ as a model for what they feel American politicians should do to address “criminal violence.”
In other words, New Zealand created vague terms to determine who should be allowed to own firearms, then decided anyone who did not approve of the government’s legitimacy should be excluded from owning firearms despite no criminal record or indications of violence, and then created a template around which, the US government should fashion its own gun confiscation programs.
