Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on Monday that his office’s investigation into ActBlue, a major political fundraising platform, has uncovered a significant number of suspicious donations made through obscured and untraceable identities. These findings raise serious concerns about the potential for illegal foreign contributions and other forms of election interference.

“Our investigation into ActBlue has uncovered facts indicating that bad actors can illegally interfere in American elections by disguising political donations,” said Paxton. “It is imperative that the Federal Election Commission (FEC) close off the avenues we have identified by which foreign contributions or contributions in excess of legal limits could be unlawfully funneled to political campaigns, bypassing campaign finance regulations and compromising our electoral system.”

Paxton called on the FEC to take immediate action, urging the commission to begin rulemaking that would secure the integrity of U.S. elections by eliminating vulnerabilities exploited by foreign or other unlawful actors.

“I am calling on the FEC to immediately begin rulemaking to secure our elections from any criminal actors exploiting these vulnerabilities,” he added in a statement.

James O’Keefe of the O’Keefe Media Group previously exposed similar concerns about ActBlue, detailing a potential money-laundering scheme. O’Keefe’s investigation revealed millions of dollars in suspicious donations, potentially funneled through what he called “donation mules.” These individuals were allegedly making hundreds of donations across numerous states, raising alarm about the integrity of campaign finance processes.
