Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee JD Vance said Saturday that America’s interest “is in not going to war with Iran” and acknowledged that Israel and America’s interests will “sometimes” diverge.
“So obviously, Israel has the right to defend itself,” Vance told Tim Dillon. “But America’s interest is sometimes going to be distinct.”
“Sometimes we’re going to have overlapping interests and sometimes were going to have distinct interests and our interest, I think, very much is in not going to war with Iran,” Vance said. “It would be a huge distraction of resources, it would be massively expensive to our country.”

He went on to say that the Israelis and Arab states should “police” Iran with funding from America under the Abraham Accords (a Trump administration program to bribe Arab kings with billions in US taxpayer dollars to normalize relations with Israel).
