FEMA chooses ‘disaster equity’ over providing the greatest good for all

During a FEMA-sponsored webinar centered around helping homosexuals during disasters, a representative made the claim that FEMA was moving away from providing the greatest good for the greatest amount of people.

“The shift that we’re seeing right now is a shift in emergency management from utilitarian principles — where everything is designed for the greatest good for the greatest amount of people — to disaster equity. But we have to do more,” stated Maggie Jarry of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

We are witnessing the Woke results of this new FEMA policy of disaster equity.

The Daily Wire reports that “Photos and videos of Asheville, North Carolina, and other areas show houses and cars underwater and wreckage trapping people from coming in and out.”

Many horrific stories have surfaced, and The Daily Wire tells the tragic story of one family trying to escape the flooding. “One Asheville family, a couple in their 70s and their six-year-old grandson drowned after the roof they were on collapsed while the boy’s mother survived, wedged between objects nearby.”

However, FEMA’s number one goal is to serve “underserved communities.”

FEMA’s website states: “Underserved communities, as well as specific identity groups, often suffer disproportionately from disasters. As a result, disasters worsen inequities already present in society.”

Watching videos of the flooding wreaking havoc through North Carolina, I do not see the waters choosing which homes to destroy. Everything is leveled in its path.

One identity group does not suffer disproportionately from another. The storm does not affect gay individuals differently from straight individuals. It does not choose to worsen the damage of one race over another. The waters have not affected men differently than women.

The FEMA gaslighting continues by stating: “This cycle compounds the challenges faced by these communities and increases their risk to future disasters. By instilling equity as a foundation of emergency management and striving to meet the unique needs of underserved communities, the emergency management community can work to break this cycle and build a more resilient nation.”

Dear FEMA…

Every community that is leveled by a storm, no matter their identity group, has an increased risk to future disasters. By instilling equity as a foundation of emergency management, and shifting away from providing the greatest good for the greatest amount of people, the leaders at FEMA are displaying their blatant ignorance and refusal to act in commonsense which has only exacerbated the problems these communities face.
