In yet another show of authoritarian power, Venezuela’s judiciary, controlled by judges loyal to dictator Nicolás Maduro, has issued an arrest warrant for opposition leader Edmundo González, who ran in the July presidential election and was declared the winner. Car makers are rationing sales of petrol and hybrid vehicles in Britain to avoid hefty Net Zero fines, according to one of the country’s biggest dealership chains. The Telegraph has the story.
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu Motors, said manufacturers were delaying deliveries of cars until next year amid fears they will otherwise breach quotas set for them by the Government.
This means someone ordering a car today at some dealerships will not receive it until February, he said.
At the same time, Mr. Forrester warned manufacturers and dealers were grappling with a glut of more expensive electric vehicles (EVs) that are “not easily finding homes”.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized a new COVID-19 vaccine from Novavax, giving Americans an alternative to shots from Moderna and Pfizer.
Novavax’s protein-based vaccine will be available soon after regulators granted emergency authorization to the Maryland-based company for the product.
FDA officials said that animal testing data supported the decision.

Particularly alarming is the overall takeaway that the U.S. megabanks that are receiving federal deposit insurance that is backstopped by hardworking and law-abiding U.S. taxpayers, are using their lending ability to make massive loans to dodgy, giant hedge funds that are regularly found to be on the wrong side of the law and/or engaging in wildly risky behavior.

The deputy chief of staff to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was arrested Tuesday for spying on behalf of the Chinese government, federal prosecutors revealed in an indictment.
Linda Sun, who held several posts in New York state government before rising to the rank of deputy chief of staff for Hochul, was charged Tuesday morning along with her husband at their $3.5 million home on Long Island.
