The DNC May Nominate Biden a Month Early to Stop Replacement Calls

The Democratic National Convention is August 19-22. Well who cares about that? We may find out on July 21 when the rules committee meets.

According to Bloomberg, the Democratic National Committee is considering formally nominating Joe Biden as early as mid-July to ensure that the president is on November ballots, while helping to stamp out intra-party chatter of replacing him after last week’s poor debate performance.

On July 21, the credentials committee meets virtually, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Democrats had already planned to nominate Biden, 81, before their August convention in order to ensure he appears on the ballot in Ohio, which had an Aug. 7 deadline for candidates to be certified.

Democrats were expected to have a virtual convention before August 7, but now they are discussion moving it up further to squash replacement talk.
