Ottawa, June 16, 2024 — In a startling revelation this week, Canada’s opposition leader, Pierre Poilievre, held a press conference to expose a massive security breach involving a Chinese spy at a level 4 bio lab in Winnipeg. Poilievre presented official government documents indicating that the Trudeau administration had been concealing this breach since 2019, raising serious concerns about national security and governmental transparency.

Details of the Breach
Pierre Poilievre began by disclosing the presence of a Chinese spy within Canada’s most sensitive laboratory, where the country’s most dangerous viruses and pathogens are studied. According to Poilievre, the Trudeau government’s head of pathogens was found collaborating with members of Beijing’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), specifically those involved in bioweapons and bioterrorism.
“We already knew that Justin Trudeau was not worth the cost, the crime, the corruption, and the cover-up,” Poilievre stated emphatically. “But now we know that he cannot protect our people or our country.”
The Documented Evidence
Poilievre provided detailed excerpts from the government documents. On page 142, the documents named Dr. Chu as the head of the special pathogens unit at the Winnipeg lab. Page 242 described the serious risks posed by Dr. Chu’s collaboration with Major General Chen Wei of the PLA, a top virologist engaged in research related to biosafety, biodefense, and bioterrorism.
“Dr. Chu conducted joint research with Major General Chen Wei of the People’s Liberation Army,” Poilievre read from the documents. “This individual is China’s chief biological defense expert engaged in bioterrorism.”
Trudeau’s Response
According to Poilievre, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s response to the security breach was a series of cover-ups. “Did he immediately inform Canadians of the breach? Did he fire anybody? Nope, no one was fired,” Poilievre declared. “Instead, he covered it all up.”
The opposition leader highlighted that Trudeau defied four parliamentary orders to release these documents. When the then Speaker of the House, Anthony Rota, formally demanded the documents, Trudeau took the unprecedented step of suing him to prevent their release, citing national security concerns. However, a committee consisting of four members of parliament and three judges later concluded that the information was withheld primarily to avoid embarrassment, not for legitimate national security reasons.
Further Implications
Poilievre also criticized Trudeau’s subsequent actions, including attempts to procure a COVID-19 vaccine from China despite knowing about the security breach. “Could you imagine if the deal that Trudeau wanted to sign with Beijing had gone ahead and we had procured China-made vaccines after learning this information?” Poilievre questioned. “That’s what was in this guy’s head.”
Accountability
To emphasize Trudeau’s responsibility, Poilievre quoted from a government document titled “Open and Accountable Government,” which states, “As head of government, the Prime Minister has special responsibilities for national security.”
“This is his government’s lab,” Poilievre stressed. “It’s the top lab for the Prime Minister’s public health agency. And he is exclusively responsible for the machinery of government as Prime Minister of the country. So this is on Justin Trudeau.”
