Suggests states can overrule the Constitution and block Trump from the ballot
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared Sunday that The U.S. Constitution is beside the point when it comes to Democrats trying to kick Donald Trump off the ballot for 2024.
In comments that shocked even establishment Democrat mouthpiece George Stephanopoulos, Pelosi told viewers of ABC’s This Week, that states can overrule the Constitution and ban Trump from the presidential ballot.

Stephanopoulos referred to the 14th Amendment, and asked Pelosi “You believe [Trump] is ineligible to be president?”
“They have different laws from state-to-state,” Pelosi responded while waving her hands around like a bad magician.
“It’s the Constitution…” a shocked Stephanopoulos intervened.
Incredible video of Nancy Pelosi yesterday saying states can OVERRULE the Constitution and block Trump from the presidential ballot, before claiming Democrats are acting to “honor our oath to protect and defend the Constitution.” Even ABC hack Stephanopoulos was stunned.… pic.twitter.com/MUFs8mIlhY

“That’s not the point,” Pelosi shot back, going on to suggest that states could use “different laws” to block Trump, and adding ” I don’t think he should ever have been president.”
Pelosi then had the gall to state that “American people want us to honor our oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
She added that “Our founders knew that we could have a rogue president,” going on to say she believes Trump “incited an insurrection.”
Following the interview, Stephanopoulos moderated a panel discussion during which he noted “If you say [Trump] engaged in insurrection — it was the question I asked Nancy Pelosi — I don’t see how you can escape the plain meaning of the 14th amendment and say he’s qualified to run for office.”
Trump himself declared Saturday that the Biden campaign has nothing to run on and will focus solely on him being a “threat to democracy.”
“That’s going to be their theme, that I’m a threat to democracy,” Trump urged, adding “They’re screwing with our elections. They’re doing things that nobody’s ever done before in terms of weaponization with DOJ, with FBI. I got indicted more than Al Capone.”
