The Destruction of San Francisco – Without Trust, Civilization Crumbles

Our everyday lives are based upon implicit trust in other people, companies, and local, state, and federal government. When I walk the sidewalks of my town, I trust that no one will rob me or beat me. When the merchants in my town put products on the sidewalk for sale, they trust that no one will steal them. When I go shopping at my local grocery store, I trust that milk and eggs will be on the shelves for me to buy. If I find my car broken into or stolen, I trust that the 911 operator will send the police.

TRUTH LIVES on at https://sgtreport.tv/

This trust in my fellow citizens, merchants, and the police gives me the confidence to lead my daily life without fear and anxiety. I run errands without even pausing to think about danger.

When this trust is broken, our ability to perform the simple tasks of everyday living becomes complicated and fearfilled. The basic systems of providing for our everyday needs break down.

A recent YouTube video enables us to be eyewitnesses to the consequences of this breakdown.

Every Store is CLOSED on Market Street in San Francisco

What is the reason for stores closing on the iconic shopping street in what was once one of the most beautiful cities in America? Simple. The store operators and owners cannot trust people not to steal from them. The store managers cannot trust people not to assault their store clerks. The store clerks cannot trust that the police will come to their aid if called.

Now local residents have to go further to shop. Walgreens has closed 17 pharmacies in the city center, so you have to travel to the suburbs to get your prescriptions filled. The conveniences of modern society are lost when theft and assault are enabled by the lack of consequences for criminals.

Trust is the by-product of a Judeo-Christian Civilization

My thesis is that trust is a by-product of Judeo-Christian civilization. What makes a civilization “Judeo-Christian”? The Ten Commandments. When everyone in a society can trust that the behavioral norms of that society mean no one will steal from them, murder them, lie to them, or covet their property, then they can function in that society more easily. You won’t need bodyguards to escort you to the drugstore to fill your prescription. You just go.

Four of the commandments are the most essential to any civilized society (King James Version, Exodus 20:2-17)

6. Thou shalt not kill.

8. Thou shalt not steal.

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.”

When these four rules are agreed upon with laws and police enforcement, a town can function. When these rules are not accepted and enforced, then you have the “Wild West” scenes from Chicago, San Francisco, and New York City. Rampant theft, assaults on the streets, shootings, and high murder rates. How can you carry on daily life when you have to worry about the probability of these crimes happening to you?

The Bondage of Crime and Fear

When city residents are afraid to live their daily lives, they are in bondage to fear and chaos. They are just as bound as if they were wearing chains or handcuffs. Their apartments become virtual jail cells. Venturing out becomes dangerous.

These four commandments deliver us from this bondage to fear. By creating the trust that their fellow man won’t do these four things, the figurative chains of fear are broken. The mutual respect and courtesies born of trust are reestablished. We can walk the streets and say “Hello” to strangers without fear.
