Twitter owner Elon Musk has decided to replace Twitter’s iconic bird logo with an X. Musk made the shocking announcement of his plans early Sunday. By Monday morning United States time, he tweeted that X.com now points to Twitter.com.

But why?

The blue bird is gone. Previously, Musk had said he was bidding “adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” according to a report by CNN.

According to the New York Times, this could be due to Musk calling Twitter the “everything app.”

Musk has completely overhauled the site after acquiring it for $44 billion in late October. He followed the acquisition with mass layoffs and disputes over millions of dollars allegedly owed in severance.  Musk’s note to employees that remaining at the company would mean “working long hours at high intensity.” He wrote: “Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”

Twitter has a long history of censoring and banning people who won’t toe the ruling class’s line.

Musk explained his approach to free speech by saying: “Is someone you don’t like allowed to say something you don’t like? And if that is the case, then we have free speech.” He added that Twitter would “be very reluctant to delete things” and that the platform would aim to allow all legal speech. Many users have worried that could mean a rise in hate speech.

“Hate speech” and “illegal speech” are still free speech and there should never be limits on what people say. We need to start taking responsibility for ourselves and start using our logical thought processes including critical thinking so we can discern the lies from the truth. Far too many people cannot do this and because of it, will be continually ruled over by those who they allow to hijack their thought process.
