Pew Poll on Global Warming Emphasizes American Beliefs Don’t Matter

from The Daily Bell:

Pew: Most Americans Don’t Believe in ‘Scientific Consensus’ on Climate Change … Nearly three-quarters of Americans don’t trust that there is a large “scientific consensus” amongst climate scientists on human behavior being the cause of climate change, according to an in-depth survey on “the politics of climate” released Tuesday by Pew Research Center. – CNS

Perhaps one reason to publish this survey is to indicate that even though Americans don’t believe in global warming, they will have remedies created and implemented by their “representative” government nonetheless.

Here, from The Blaze, in mid September:

President Obama Bypasses Senate, Joins Controversial Global Warming Pact … Over Labor Day weekend, President Barack Obama once again showed his willingness to use questionable executive action to push his radical environmental agenda. While in China, President Obama joined the Paris global warming “agreement” along with Chinese President Xi Jinping – without the blessing of the U.S. Senate.

We are apparently at a point where Western elites are actively trying to impress upon people that their democracies are broken and that they have little or no voice left in the modern era.

As a mainstream corporate facility created by the progeny of Joseph N. Pew, founder of the Sun Oil Company (Sunoco), Pew can certainly be seen as a mechanism reinforcing this trend. One could speculate, in other words, that the publication of this survey is no accident.

Three quarters of Americans might not agree with what Obama is doing, certainly not entirely, but he did it anyway. And looking beyond Obama, we can certainly speculate that the current dysfunctional US presidential election itself is part of this malevolent but surreptitious process.

The idea may be that if people are discouraged about their impact on the societies they live in, they will turn their energies in different and more personal directions. This in turn lessens the challenges faced by the world’s real leaders who operate behind the scenes.

We can see this idea at work with the IRS as well. Top IRS officials have appeared before various House and Senate committees to explain why the IRS illegally delayed various Tea Party non-profit certifications. In fact, the current head of the IRS, John Koskinen, has explained that Tea Party delays have been cleared up, yet the IRS just released the actual tax returns of one Tea Party group that is engaged in litigation with the IRS.

Tea Party groups also claim the IRS is still harassing them. Leaving aide Koskinen, those who operate behind the IRS’s operational veil obviously intend to make the point that the IRS is beyond Congressional control.

We can see the same sort of mechanism at work over at the FBI, where agents somehow came to the conclusion that Hillary’s careless treatment of State Dept. emails was not a criminal activity, even though many others have been prosecuted for the same actions.

More from Pew:

According to the survey, only 27 percent of Americans agree that “almost all” climate scientists say that human behavior is mostly responsible for climate change, while 35 percent say that “more than half” of climate scientists agree on this. An additional 35 percent of those surveyed say that fewer than half (20%) or almost no (15%) climate scientists believe that human behavior is the main contributing factor in climate change.

Pew contrasted this to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which “stated in the forward to its 2013 report, ‘the science now shows with 95 percent certainty that human activity is the dominant cause of observed warming since the mid-20th century.’”

“Most Americans Don’t Believe in ‘Scientific Consensus’ on Climate Change …”

Why should we? Science, unlike politics, is not about “consensus”. It is about TRUTH and being able to PROVE that what one is saying is correct. The global cooling… er, global warming… er, global climate change crowd believes that consensus forms reality. It’s the old “50 million Frenchmen can’t be wrong” argument, writ large. As a scientist, I see this as bogus and having no scientific validity whatsoever. If 100,000 people believe that the Earth is flat, for example, and 1 person can prove that it is not, we have consensus but we do not have truth as a common concept.

The truth is that the Earth’s climate is not static. It is variable and it changes from time to time. Sometimes these changes are seen as beneficial and sometimes they are not. We do not have a mile thick sheet of ice covering the northern half of the USA today because the climate changed since the last ice age… yep, REAL global warming made North America habitable and capable of supporting hundreds of millions of human beings as well as several times that number of livestock. Would it be better for humans if the climate had not changed and North America remained a frozen wasteland? No, IMO, it would not. Multiple ice ages have come and gone over the past several millennia. These are a recurring natural phenomenon that have yet to be explained as to their cause of beginning and ending. If we did know this, we might be able to do something useful about them, either preventing them or reducing their severity. But we don’t, so are left wondering about them. Note that these are severe changes in the Earth’s climate and they have NOTHING to do with the presence or absence of human beings whatsoever. The last one occurred about 113,000 years ago when the human population of the Earth was VERY small and there was no industry at all.

In spite of all this, there are those who immediately blame humanity for everything that happens on this planet, whether humans are involved or not. They also tend to do this with little to no scientifically vetted data whatsoever. Most of the reason for this hysteria is that they are politically motivated to control others and are using the naturally occurring changes in the Earth’s climate as their excuse for controlling others and stealing their wealth via idiotic ideas like carbon emission fees and excessive taxation to “fix” these so-called problems. This is not about the environment, people, this IS about the control of other human beings and their wealth. We know when people truly believe what they are saying when they are willing to use their OWN money via contributions to fix problems. When they demand that others pay for their pet “fixes” is where the line in the sand should be drawn, IMO.
