More Jobs Shipped Out Of The Country: Ford Moves All Small Car Production To Mexico

by Michael Snyder, The Economic Collapse Blog:

What is going to happen when America finally doesn’t have any manufacturing jobs left at all? On Wednesday, we learned that Ford Motor Company is shifting all small car production to Mexico. Of course the primary goal for this move is to save a little bit of money. This hits me personally, because my grandfather once worked for Ford. He was loyal to Ford all his life, and he always criticized other members of the family when they bought a vehicle that was not American-made. When I was young I didn’t understand why making vehicles in America is so important, but I sure do now. By shipping jobs overseas, we are destroying jobs, we are destroying small businesses and we are destroying our tax base. If we want to be a wealthy nation, we have got to make things here, and hopefully we can get the American people to start to understand this.

In 1914, Henry Ford decided to start paying his workers $5.00 a day, which was more than double the average wage for auto workers at the time.

One of the reasons why he did this was because he felt that his workers should be able to afford to buy the vehicles that they were making. This is what he wrote in 1926

The owner, the employees, and the buying public are all one and the same, and unless an industry can so manage itself as to keep wages high and prices low it destroys itself, for otherwise it limits the number of its customers. One’s own employees ought to be one’s own best customers.

These days Ford is going in the complete opposite direction. Pretty soon, Ford won’t be making any more small vehicles in the United States at all

Ford is shifting all North American small-car production from the U.S. to Mexico, CEO Mark Fields told investors today in Dearborn, even though its plans to invest in Mexico have become a lightning rod for controversy in this year’s presidential election.

“Over the next two to three years, we will have migrated all of our small-car production to Mexico and out of the United States,” Fields said.

Could Ford keep jobs in America?

Of course they could. During the second quarter of 2016, Ford reported a net income of 2,000,000,000 dollars.

But if they move production to Mexico they can boost that profit just a little bit higher.

Shame on them.

Needless to say, Donald Trump is quite upset about this move by Ford. This was his response

We shouldn’t allow it to happen. They’ll make their cars, they’ll employ thousands of people, not from this country and they’ll sell their car across the border,” Trump said. “When we send our jobs out of Michigan, we’re also sending our tax base.

Blaming Ford for moving their production to Mexico for higher profit misses the underlying problem. Government taxation. Many companies have left U.S. soil for the same underlying reason. Generating profit is the primary reason most companies, from the largest manufacturers down to the guy with the lawn care business, exist. How many people would go to work every day and then fork over their earnings to satisfy the desire of someone else who did nothing productive to earn the wealth? Not only would it be discouraging enough that you find ways to avoid making the payments, but it may encourage you to quit and become one of the takers yourself.

It is our government that is to be blamed here. The one we “voted” for. Think of all the forced payouts these companies (and we taxpayers) make to government. Taxes, mandated health care provisions and regulations add hugely to the overhead all businesses in the U.S. have to deal with. These expenses are so onerous they force many businesses to fail. Or they move.

Many will point out the huge, near monopoly status many of these companies hold, or their influence on government through big donations to political candidates or favors to office holders. All true. Others may claim some “right” to the earnings of these companies make simply because the earners have more money than them. But Ultimately, these companies (and their employees) must still compete on a global market, and they will do whatever most ensures their survival. Look at General Motors, they shut down Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Saturn production in the US, but bought up more profitable foreign manufacturers like Voxhall, Opel and Holden. It was the same story. Leave of die.

Look at the bright side! Many of the “illegal aliens” might move back to Mexico to get a job. Lord knows there are none in USSA.

Trump says he will re-structure taxes to make Companies want to return to their homeland to manufacture. He will be popped long before that happens. The Matrix must continue….

There are jobs here. They’re just all service sector jobs. I see now hiring signs all the time. But nobody is willing to work for $11-$15 an hour because Americans are spoiled rotten and have a huge sense of entitlement.

Mexican peso just hit a new all time low of 19.39 to $1.

The long-term goal of the globalists is to completely eliminate the middle class and equalize Mexican/American/Canadian wages through an expanding North American Union (whether it’s called that or something else). In the end, you will either be poor (the many), or rich (the few).

Trump’s plan to bring industry back to the US looks great on paper, but when you consider that the multinational corporations play an integral role in the fasco-communist vision for the future as laid out by the globalist oligarchy, is it realistic to believe these corporations will have any desire of EVER returning?

Furthermore, there is no place for a border wall under such a setup, hence the rabid opposition to any talk advocating a wall or tighter security on the US/Mexican border. Artificial homogenization is the new globalist religion.

Most Americans are just too stupid…lazy and apathetic…and they definitely have a misplaced sense of entitlement.

They don’t care about the country. Just give em’ the Kardashians, Jerry Springer and anything sports.

This is the blue print for taking over the country.

Americans (in general) are a disgrace. Just watch a Mark Dice video.
