from The Burning Platform:
Political parties, not voters, choose their presidential nominees, a Republican convention rules member told CNBC, a day after GOP front-runner Donald Trump rolled up more big primary victories.
“The media has created the perception that the voters choose the nomination. That’s the conflict here,” Curly Haugland, an unbound GOP delegate from North Dakota, told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Wednesday. He even questioned why primaries and caucuses are held.
The GOP is free to do whatever their bylaws allow, of course.
However, the people vote for candidates, not the GOP establishment.
If the GOP holds primaries and caucuses, the people select someone in those contests and then the GOP refuses to honor that choice they will have destroyed themselves by declaring that the people are not the party.
Well, that’s just false despite whatever people in the establishment would like to claim.
Simply put, without voters you have a bunch of rich guys masturbating in a circle believing that doing so will cause birth to occur.
It won’t, of course. All it will do is make a hell of a mess and, if someone has a camera running, a great Youtube for the masses to laugh at.
Beware, GOPe. Declaring that you intend to ignore the will of the people who you have courted and obtained support from over the last several decades is unwise, and should you act on that claim the consequences, however ugly they might be, are yours.
