from Western Journalism:
Many might say Congressman Trey Gowdy has truly become a conservative star by proving that he is one of the few members of the House bold enough to shoot both barrels at Obama and the left. Now, some are saying that Gowdy might take a step up in power that has conservatives cheering.
In recent comments, Utah Republican and Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz said that he thinks that Gowdy might become the next House Majority Leader. Gowdy has been making news as the head of the committee investigating Hillary Clinton’s Department of State for its response to the terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya.
On Tuesday, Chaffetz was asked about the shuffling in leadership with the resignation of House Speaker John Boehner, and the Utahn brought up the possibility of Gowdy taking a leadership role–calling the idea “Heaven-sent.”
“It would really propel Republicans in the right direction,” Chaffetz added.
“I think one of the great things that needs to happen is bringing in Trey Gowdy,” Chaffetz told Fox and Friends. “I think that the Republican Conference needs somebody who can unite the body and represent us far and wide and articulate the message …. Trey Gowdy is the best person, and having spoken to him, I actually think he’ll do it.”
