You’ll Want to Own This When Gold Prices Rebound

from Outsider Club:

Opening a gold mine is a costly endeavor. Simply finding a deposit, exploring potential reserves, navigating governmental bureaucracy and environmental red tape, and building the necessary facilities can have a project bogged down before it even gets to the point of extraction.

But what if I told you there was a mine already built, permitted, and operational… That early indications suggested as much as 800,000 ounces of gold were present… And that the only thing left to do was to get to work?

That’s exactly the position in which Pershing Gold Corp. finds itself. The company is literally sitting on a gold mine, poised to take the final leap into full-fledged production in a matter of months.

I would be dubious because that same story has been told and re-told numerous times. We have been told for years that NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY MINING STOCKS… but the mining stocks just continue to get cheaper. Someday, a lot of money will be made in select mining stocks but until then a lot of money will be lost chasing after those with potential that isn’t being realized… and might not ever be realized.

Mark Twain once referred to a gold mine as “a hole in the ground with a liar at the top”. Perhaps Mr. Twain was an early investor in a mine that went bust? He has a lot of company in that.

But gold and silver coins, rounds, and bars in our hands will not go bust. They are not some paper investment entity that can disappear on us just when we need them. They will always have value. Yes, that changes in fiat terms, but so what? There are no guarantees in life, except death and taxes. So, make mine physical gold and silver and let those with the money to fund speculation risk it on the mining stocks. I wish them well but have no desire to join them.
