Planned Parenthood Did 378,692 Pap Smears–and 327,653 Abortions

by Penny Starr, CNS News:

Planned Parenthood Action Fund tweeted on Monday that women can “rely on Planned Parenthood for accurate and high-quality info and care, citing the “nearly 400,000 Pap tests” the organization provided in 2013.

The tweet did not say that during that same time period, Planned Parenthood also performed over 300,000 abortions.

According to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s annual report for fiscal year 2013-2014, its affiliated clinics around the United States conducted 378,692 cervical cancer-screening tests (Papanicolaou tests, commonly known as Pap tests) while also performing 327,653 abortions.

That’s approximately .89 abortions for every one Pap test.

“If anti-women’s health politicians defund Planned Parenthood, they would deny this critical, lifesaving health care to women in communities across the country with nowhere to turn for reliable, affordable care,” the tweet from Planned Parenthood’s political arm says.

But according to the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) website, women who qualify can get free or low-cost cancer screening at various state health departments across the country through the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP). In 2013, the NBCCEDP “screened 208,682 women for cervical cancer with the Pap test.”

I fail to see any issues with abortion(s). Humans and cultures have controlled there populations with various, weeds, herbs and physical techniques forever.

Give it a rest! If you dont want one, do have one!

And so because it’s been done forever, this makes it OK? Other forms of murder (yes, this is how some of us view it) have also been committed forever, does it make them OK as well?

Give it a rest! If you don’t agree with the post, don’t view it!

They won’t stop abortions. But they will try to stop LEGAL safe abortions.

Rich women have always gotten them by flying to countries where they are legal or getting their “pet” doctor to fudge the papers on why they are having a D&C in the local hospital. Endometriosis and other “legitimate” reasons for having one are substituted. Women living near the borders with Canada and Mexico will be better off as well.

What they will end are poor women from getting safe abortions. They will be found in back alleys bleeding out and then jailed like in the past.

Women’s groups are finding ways to end pregnancies early in the privacy of their homes. They are training women in non surgical ways to remove the lining of the uterus with gentle suction like used with space bags & vacuum cleaners. At least that was what was reported on NPR.

    @Dante, get over yourself.
What the Bible says about Abortion

Abortion is not murder. A fetus is not considered a human life.

If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life. — Exodus 21:22-23

The Bible places no value on fetuses or infants less than one month old.

And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver. — Leviticus 27:6

Fetuses and infants less than one month old are not considered persons.

Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them. And Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD. — Numbers 3:15-16

God sometimes approves of killing fetuses.

And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? … Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. — Numbers 31:15-17
(Some of the non-virgin women must have been pregnant. They would have been killed along with their unborn fetuses.)

Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. — Hosea 9:14

Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb. — Hosea 9:16

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. — Hosea 13:16

God sometimes kills newborn babies to punish their parents.

Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. — 2 Samuel 12:14

God sometimes causes abortions by cursing unfaithful wives.

The priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell. And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen. …
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed. — Numbers 5:21-21, 27-28

God’s law sometimes requires the execution (by burning to death) of pregnant women.

Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt. — Genesis 38:24

Who’s talking about the bible? I’m not even a Christian. You’re assuming much and posting WAY too much.

Looks like you need to get over YOURSELF, but at least you spent the day becoming a weekend bible warrior. I’m proud of you!

I long for a world where unintended pregnancies and abortions are rare, where every woman controls her own sexuality, contraceptives are easily available for those who wish to use them, and couples make reproductive choices responsibly, with mutual respect and love.

I respect, though I disagree with the conviction of many Americans that a human being’s life begins at conception. And I share their belief in the sanctity of life.

I appreciate the biblical view that a human being’s life begins at birth. But modern science and medical technology give me a more nuanced and conservative conviction.

The moral view that underlies Roe v. Wade — that a line is crossed when a fetus becomes “viable” — seems most plausible, morally defensible, and consistent with the spirit of the biblical view.

I hope that view continues to prevail.
