In a speech to African Union leaders on Tuesday, US President Barack Obama brazenly stated “I’m a pretty good president… If I ran again, I could win.” Obama made the remarks as a way of ridiculing African leaders who have refused to step aside at the conclusion of their terms in power.
“Now, let me be honest with you,” Obama said. “I do not understand this. I am in my second term. It has been an extraordinary privilege for me to serve as the President of the United States. I cannot imagine a greater honor or a more interesting job. I love my work. But under our Constitution, I cannot run again.”
“There’s a lot that I’d like to do to keep America moving, but the law is the law.” Obama added. As far as a third Obama term goes, even if the Constitution were to be changed, less than half of America thinks he’s doing a good job in his second term.
