The Palladium Bull Cometh

from Outsider Club:

Palladium is poised for a sustained bull run.

Platinum and palladium are both used as catalysts in vehicle emissions control devices — catalytic converters.

They create a reaction that oxidizes or reduces toxic pollutants in exhaust, namely poisonous gases nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide. They’re interchangeable with each other as the main catalyst in the converters.

There is no substitute for these two metals. Automakers MUST use either platinum or palladium as catalysts.

I haven’t looked for palladium lately, but if you can find any platinum coins that interest you, consider adding them to your stack.

I have been looking a lot lately and I don’t see any 1 ounce US Platinum coins for sale anywhere. Just the 1/10 ounce, 1/4 ounce, and 1/2 ounce. Even the canadian platinum maple leafs are difficult to find. The platypus looks available.

Bottom line, Platinum is definitely not as available as it was a couple years ago.

Technology increases catalyst efficiency regularly, resulting in less demand for Precious metals. Catalyst technology screams down the path to commoditizaton, so do not be fooled into thinking that either platinum or palladium is a currency substitute. It is much more decoupled from the currency trade than either gold or silver, so yes money can be made, but the market is far more uncertain.
