Congress Just Passed Legislation Ramping Up Mass Surveillance to Super-Steroid Levels

from Washington’s Blog:

Fascist Power Grab Wipes out 4th Amendment

Remember how Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to mass surveillance, and how the government promised to rein in spying on Americans?

Yeah, that never happened

Instead, Congress snuck a provision into the Intelligence Authorization Act which will ramp up spying on us normal, average, innocent Americans.

Congressman Justin Amash explains:

When I learned that the Intelligence Authorization Act for FY 2015 was being rushed to the floor for a vote—with little debate and only a voice vote expected (i.e., simply declared “passed” with almost nobody in the room)—I asked my legislative staff to quickly review the bill for unusual language. I couldn’t be more proud of Justin Amash if he were my own son.

Don’t think your vote matters? During this past election, as Justin put it “I was asked by a powerful person to do a political favor, I refused, and he said he was going to fund somebody to run against me, and that’s just what happened.”

Don’t know who the powerful person was, but the douche bag that was seeking the Republican nomination against Justin was Brian Ellis (Justin is a Libertarian who runs on the Republican ticket). This was the first primary election I had ever voted in. Thankfully plenty of Amash supporters hit the polls.

Justin had no kind words to say about Ellis and the campaign that Ellis’ backers waged against him. Justin was not about to kiss and make up to this bought and paid for scumbag.

If you have been paying attention, you will recognize Justin as a very rare breed of politician, one you can get behind as the voters of his district have.
