“There’s no question that viruses can mutate to a more virulent form and find easier ways of transmission. And certainly, if that were to occur, it would be a major disaster not only here but throughout the world,” Dr. Ben Carson told Fox News’s Sean Hannity Monday night.
“We can hope and pray that that doesn’t happen. But we should be thinking about worst-case scenarios, and we need to be putting into place the kinds of mechanisms to deal with it before it happens.”
Carson said it “makes sense” to ban flights from West African nations where Ebola is spreading rapidly — and to set up a “designated place” in the U.S. “where everybody is well-trained” in how to care for highly contagious Ebola patients.
