Why the District of Criminals (Columbia) has a delegate to Congress, I’ll never understand, especially since she can’t vote on the final passage of any legislation. However, Eleanor Holmes Norton doesn’t believe it is Congress’ job to know what is taking place in the White House, nor does she believe it is a proper check and balance between the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch.
“You don’t have a right to know everything in a separation-of-powers government, my friend. That is the difference between a parliamentary government and a separation-of-powers government,” Norton said during a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing.
The response came to Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa’s push to subpoena Obama’s director of the Office of Political Strategy, David Simas.
