from Western Journalism:
As I get older, I find myself reflecting back more and more to the way that America used to be.
I can remember the celebrations of our founding, where people cried while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance or the singing of the National Anthem. Everyone stood up along parade routes while the members of VFW’s and American Legions passed, some saluting them and most just thanking them for their service and for protecting our freedom. That was American exceptionalism at it’s finest. The ongoing cheers ensued because we all knew that America was great, because she was good.
Unfortunately, over the course of history, America has lost her way. With the onset of the great wars, a few in positions of power saw how a small group of insane people could control total populations through fear, intimidation, and poverty–and they wanted that power. Since the world wars, however, each and every President has contributed to the fundamental destruction of America, either willingly or unwillingly due to political pressure.
