PHOTOS of the New SATANIC Monument Being Built for Oklahoma’s Statehouse

by Jonathan Smith, VICE:

The Baphomet, which will stand seven feet tall and be a testament to the glory of the Angel of the Bottomless Pit, would be placed directly beside the sculpture glorifying the laws given to Moses by the Christian God. The idea of a Satanic monument sitting on government property in Oklahoma—which is like the Bible Belt’s Bible Belt—seems a bit far-fetched, but Greaves says that “there has been quite a bit of discussion among legal scholars who recognize how difficult it would actually be for Oklahoma to turn us down… Constitutional law is quite clear on this issue: The state can’t discriminate against viewpoints. If they’ve opened the door for one, they’ve opened it for all.”

Ryan Kiesel from the Oklahoma ACLU seems to agree. He told the Libertarian Republic, “If, at the end of the day, the Ten Commandments monument is allowed to remain on the Capitol grounds with its overtly Christian message, then the Satanic Temple’s proposal can’t be rejected because it is of a different religious viewpoint.”

This shouldn’t be allowed. But at the same point and time, neither should a statue of Jesus, Muhammad or any other religious figure. On private property, yes. Public property, no. Seperation of church and state. I have no problem with a statue of Jesus, or even the devil for that matter as long as its not where people are forced to look at it on public property. I’m not religious at all but I don’t have the right to tell someone they can’t worship whoever they want. But correct me if I’m wrong, I believe this statue violates the law.

Take a look at the baphomet statue, and then take a look at good ol’ Uncle Sam:

I’ll let you be the judge of which inspired which.

If one religion insists that their religious symbology be represented then they have to be aware that they are opening up the arena to anybody else’s as well. We have no state religion (and no religious civil wars because of it as many other countries have had and still do have) and if one is represented, then they all must be represented, if they want to be.
