I remember getting creeped out by a call from an army recruiter in high school.

He told me that he had been talking to one of my classmates and that classmate had told him I’d be interested in joining the army. I found this suspicious, because quite frankly, I didn’t have any friends.

Even if I did, I would never have told them I was interested in joining the army, because I wasn’t. Dodging bullets and clearing roadside bombs in Afghanistan is work for men far braver — and far more competent — than me.
