Many centuries before Christ The Prophet Hosea (785BC-725BC) prophesied to the Northern Kingdom (the people of Israel) in Hosea 4:6 and said—My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
We know they were destroyed and uprooted from their land until 1948 when they became the Nation of Israel again. Hosea is not saying that God’s people of that day, the children of Israel, were going to be destroyed because of their not keeping up with the knowledge that was available to them. They were going to be destroyed because they rejected knowledge. But what knowledge were they rejecting, and how were they were rejecting this knowledge? Here is what Hosea said after saying my people are destroyed. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you—seeing you have forgotten the law of God, I will also forget your children. In v. 4:1 Hosea said the Lord had a controversy with the inhabitants of the land because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By their swearing, lying, killing, stealing and committing adultery; they showed they had turned against the law of God. They knew they were not living according to the law of God, but the priests were not calling the people to repentance over their sins. Many in America believe they are a good person, but they are lying and committing adultery, etc. and our priests/pastors are not telling them they must repent or perish. When we forget the law of God, He will forget us & our kids.
